Hey guys,

I have to format and reinstall XP Pro on my main partition (120 GB drive...one 80 GB partition, one 40 GB partition..give or take), but I need to back up my inbox and sent e-mails before I erase the whole thing. I've exported the e-mail from Outlook...but have no idea what that file name is or where it went? lol

How do I get that silly file over to my 40GB partition so I can format my 80GB and be done with it.

(I'm installing a new mobo as my Epox 8RDA+ went out on me after just one year...fun.)

You're probaly looking for a .pst file. Do a search for *.pst on your primary drive and it should be under "Documents and Settings..." somewhere. Oh, make sure you have search in hidden files and folders selected. 🙂 When you find it copy it to your storage drive and when you're ready to reinstall Outlook import your mail from that .pst or simply point your Outlook client at it.

I am familiar with Outlook Express, not sure if Outlook does things exactly the same.

There are 3 ways to do this. One is to export the files, as you did, and note where it puts them (do it again?)
Another is to go to Tools/Options/Maintnance and move your store folder to your other drive.

Thirdly, search for .dbx files which will locate your store folder, then just copy the whole thing to where you want it (drag n drop).

After you reinstall your email program, you can IMPORT the files back in.
