I'm trying to play DVDs with my AMD k6-2 550 with the epox EPMv3c-2 mobo, and a geforce 2 mx. The DVD's shouldn't be as choppy as they are (powerdvd), and I've heard that enabling DMA would help this. Is this true? How do I enable it? Thanks

Right click on on "My computer", click on the "Device Manager" tab and look for your DVD drive. Right click on it and do "properties". Under the "settings" tab there is a "DMA" checkbox.

I just checked and there's no tick box for DMA enabling. I have a Pioneer 304-S, so it's definitely new enough to support DMA...what's wrong?

You may need to update your drivers for your DVD drive and/or for your motherboard. You might also need to update your motherboard BIOS (don't do this unless you are sure you have to). The choppiness might simply go away after you update your drivers.

I also have read somewhere that some devices which have no DMA check box are automatically detected by Windows to have DMA and so there is no option to turn it off. They are always in DMA mode.
