I just acquired a dell c500 that has the built in LAM/modem. the connectors are there but thay have the plastic knock offs still over them. I knocked the plug off the LAN connection to check if it indeed was active...it wasnt.

How do i enable this for my laptop?
jumper? bios setting?

Thanks in advance

unfortunatly the covers are there for a reason... there is no network in the machine. the only way to enable it would be to find the card that controlls the modem part (if thats even there), find its modem/nic combo counterpart through parts searches, and install that in its place. they put the covers there simply because its not in the machine... =(
