I used Partition Magic 8.0 to create a dual boot setup with XP and 98. Others will give you some tips on editing bootloaders or something. I found, that for what I wanted, PM8 worked great. Retail versions are available online for less than $30- gogamer.com is where I got mine. PM has a lot of uses besides the OS loader- partition on the fly, create running backups, move and resize partitions, etc.. consider it as a possibility idf you think the other uses may come in handy for you.

No need of partition magic. First install win98 on one disk (or partition). From win98 start the XP install and choose not to upgrade but separate install with boot menu. It's pretty easy. Good luck.

install w98 first ( if u haven't installed it ) and then install XP on a new partition on your other HDD XP should recognise your w98 partition and set it up automatically on the GRUB bootloader

^ Easiest way to do it, it sets up all the boot loader stuff for you.

If you have the XP update version (or win 2K) I've read that you don't even have to install 98 first; you only have to have the 98 installation disk available to "show" the more recent version that you have it during the install process.

True, I just did it. Early in install of an upgrade version a screen asks you to insert the cd for other older install. Then you move on with no problem.

That's correct. I have Windows 98 SE on my 40GB and Windows XP Pro on my 80GB. What Windows XP does is add Windows 98 SE (or ME) to its 'boot.ini' menu and when you start-up your computer you'll see a menu with both Windows XP and Windows 98 SE. JUst pick which one. Also, you can change the time in seconds that the start-up screen waits by changing the 'Timeout=30' value.:)
