How do i do this? Is it even possible?

If a driver is already installed on one machine, can it be copied to another? I have two identical parts in two different machines, one is newly formatted and needs the driver, but the only place on earth that has it is that other machine. You can't get a disk, you can't download it, you can't get it off WindowsXP. Long story. Anyway, is there anything i can do to copy the driver from one machine to the other? I checked 'driver details' and it says its in:

c:\windows\system32\drivers\dlkfet5b.sys

But i also need an .inf file to install it on the other system, don't i? Its for an ethernet card, the D-Link DFE-530TX Rev C. I downloaded a few different versions of Rev C. off the net, but for XP, all they have is a readme saying XP has the driver built-in, which it doesn't.

Look under driver info, find every file including the .ini file, and you should be able to install it with ease.

Doesn't have the XP driver. Has a readme.txt in /WINXP that says XP has one

All it has under driver info is the .sys file. How do i find the rest??

search yoru system for *.infs and find the one that's in the right dir?

If you copy all the necessary files over into the correct directories, windows should automatically find everything and install it. At least this has worked for me several times in the past. Try taking that file that you found in driver details, copy it over, and reboot, and see what happens. You can't hurt anything

You could network the two machines and share your windows folder for the target machine, and let the one that needs the driver find it on the target machine by itself. I had to do that once and it worked OK.

Uh, XP does have a built in driver for this card, although it's not listed as D-Link, rather Realtek, I used to use this exact card, but then went with the DFE-530TX+.

He's trying to find a driver for his network card
