Go back to the previous Detonator driver version. nvidia has given in to Macromedia, and the newest version disables all DVD playback if you have a non-Macromedia-approved TV chip on your card, whether you're using it or not. There is no way to disable the chip so that Windows doesn't detect it and install drivers. You might be able to disable the chip in Device Manager (not uninstall, just disable) and maybe that will make DVDs play, but I doubt it; I haven't kept up with how people may be trying to bypass this problem.

I had that same problem with mine. I did have to go back to 40.09 so that I'll be able to play DVD's again.

This is just a hunch, but if you flash a bios that is correct for your card, but contains no TV out code, or code for one of the newer chips that supports Macrovision, it should get you around the lockout.

That could also disable the card. :) I doubt someone who doesn't have money to toss around wants to take that risk.

The newest Detonators are really only intended for the GFFX anyway, so there's no reason to be using them otherwise. There's been threads about this here already.

Anytime you flash the Bios you take a risk, but I've flashed cards with the wrong TV code before (by accident) and the card still worked.

Hmmm, I wonder if my GF Ti200 still playes DVD, whish I had a DVD disk to try that out :). Is there any other way to check that? Who manufactured your cards, mine is a Pixelview Prolink and on their website (or somewhere else) I read that the TV encoder supports Macrovison (I wrote Macromedia here lol), but this worries me...
