How do I disable the first post?

In every post there's a 1st post showing up at the very top regardless of the page I'm on. This is very annoying and I wish to disable it. How do I do this?

oh yeah thanks. I see it now. I couldn't understand why you said that because only kevin was complaining about it among other things... elsewhere on the forum too but then i saw the posts on the 2n page.

I couldn't remember if it was always like that or not but it threw me off several times before I noticed it was always doing that after realizing that no, this thread hadn't laid dormant for years or months before someone replied to it.
