How do I disable onboard video on Dell 620?

I have a Dell Inspiron 620 Desktop w/Intel HD 2000 onboard video.
I just bought a Zotac GT640 PCIe video card, which I installed in the PC.
Then I went into BIOS to to disable the onboard video - and after flipping through all of the options, I didn't see anything remotely close to disable video (or video anything for that matter)
When I plug my VGA cable into the GT640 card connector - nothing shows onscreen, however the onboard video connector is still working

any ideas/help?

thx

Some setting in device manager perhaps. I would have expected adding a discrete card would have automatically switched the video to the discrete card.

Look for the option to select primary video out. If I recall Dells custom BIOS that is the switch, leaving it on IGP keeps it active, switching it to PCIE or "discrete" turns it off.

I didn't see anything in device manager to do this, doesn't even show the new card

I think the other posters are correct. There must some setting in the bios. What card are you trying to add?
Is there an external power connector that needs to be connected?

Maybe give dell support a call? I suppose there is some outside chance you can only use the igp with this model, but seems very unlikely.

Edit sorry didn't recall that you already listed your card. I don't think gt640 requires external power.

There is probably a way to disable the onboard, especially if they gave you PCIe slots for discrete video cards. Contact Dell - that is probably the fastest way to resolve the question.
