Hello,

I need to completely disable the onboard video card chipset on my Compaq Presario 7588. The chipset is the Intel (r) 810e chipset. I have tried disabling it in the device manager, but anytime I reboot, it is reactivated. I am trying to install an ATI All In Wonder Video Card, but in order for this to work, it has to be the primary video card and the onboard has to be disabled. I was told I have to disable it on the MB?? btw, I can get a Voodoo3 to work just fine.

Thanks,

J

It'll be in the integrated peripherals section. Find the onboard video option and disable it.

CAUTION: make sure you have a working video card already in the system before you do it, otherwise you'll probably have to reset your BIOS to get video back.

In most cases you simply press the Del key before the OS starts loading.

And yes, the integrated peripherals section is in the BIOS. In fact it's in the main menu.
