How do I disable AMD CPU speed stepping on my laptop.

There isnt an option in bios that will let my proccessor run at 100% cability. Instead it throttles down the CPU speed. I want the flood gates wide open. I had a program on my laptop before that let the CPU run at full speed. I forget its name. My laptop is a "HP Pavilion ze4610us" AMD proccessor.

Thanks!

It's a laptop, wouldn't you want it enabled to increase the battery life?
I'm sure if you went to:
right click desktop->Properties->Screen Saver->Power
and you set it to desktop mode or something, it might stop it. Just a guess.

Also, isn't there a program that might do it (forgot the name)?

I want the full power.

Power settings dont help me any.

And I am looking for the name of the program.... I used it before but I forget its name.

The processor will dynamically ramp up the clock speed as it's needed.

You don't need a 6GHz processor to run notepad. So it won't run at 6GHz (not that it would anyway 😛 )

If you run anything that utilizes the CPU (i.e. game, encoding, etc) it'll run full speed.

As wizboy said, you don't want it at 100% when it's not being used. That's just being wasteful.

However, if you absolutely can't stand the thought of conserving battery life, the option you're looking for is called " Cool 'n' Quiet "

It's not hard on a Pavilion. Just go into Control Panel, and Power Management and select Desktop, and Always On. That by passes all battery conservation, and if you are on A/C it is moot.

And if you are in a battery usage situation, you can always turn it back on.
