I have Asus P3bf with 1006 Beta 3 bios. How do I disable ACPI with Windows 98SE.

Can this be done in the BIOS or Windows?

Thank You.

I seriously suggest disabling all ACPI functions. Set the Bios to "user define." Remove the "standby" function from SE, as far as possible, at least by going to: Settings\Control Panel\Power Management and select "Always On." Click the "Advanced" tab, don't check any "Options," and set the "When I press the power button on my computer" to "Shutdown."

When you get into Settings\Control Panel\Display, and click the "Screen Saver" tab, the bottom "settings" button opens a window called "Power Management Properties." The "Power schemes" drop down box should already be set to "Always On." Now there are three new drop down boxes under "Settings for Always On power scheme." Set "System standby," "Turn off monitor" and "Turn off HDD's" how you like.

You'll use a bit more electricity than a totally "green" setup, but you'll NEVER be stuck in a "standby" or "sleep" mode that you just can't get out of.
