How do I diagnose RAM

My computer has slowed to a crawl. Ran Norton, defrag, etc, etc, etc, etc. Reinstalled XP Pro, all updates one at a time. No improvement. How do I check to see if my ram is good other than the fact that it counts on bootup and XP say its there?

MEMTEST86.. Absolutely the best tool to test the memory.

I won't swear that it is better than memtest86, but it is very easy to use. You can create a bootable CD to test mem with it.

for those experienced with MemTest86 -- how long do you let it run? I read in one of the readme's that it takes +12 hours to run the full diagnostics, but it's never taken me longer than 1.5 hours to reach 100%.

I usually let it run overnight.

It takes about 5 minutes for one cycle (1 pass). I usually let it run either overnight or when I go out. But I run at least 50 pass (usually takes around 4 hours).
