HOW do i determine an athlon classic from a thunderbird?

Is there a software utility that will correctly let me know if i have an athlon classic or t-bird. I bought a 1ghz athlon slot a chip. The vendor tells me its a t-bird and that some OEM's make the t-bird in the old slot a format.

You can tell by the CPU markings on the processor. AMD came out with a slot form of thunderbird when the Thunderbirds first came out.

Athlon Classics will have a K7 identifier, TBIRDS will all have A in the identifier.

Look up into PCB from bottom, classic will have cache chips on both sides of
core touching the black HS plate. The TB will not have those & the HS plate is generally silver...
