How do I delete system restore files?

I want to create a disk image of my almost-fresh system (with Acronis True Image). However, System Restore has already started to create backup files. I want to erase them all before creating the smallest possible image. I have looked around in the Windows folder, but don't see anything obvious, even in hidden files.

Any files I can delete? Any direct way to get rid of System Restore backup files?

right click on the disk and bring up disk clean-up; one of the advanced options lets you clean them up

You can turn off System Restore.

These two other areas that unnecessarily bloat backups:

1) c:\Documents and Settings\xxxxx\Local Settings\Temp\. All of the files here can be deleted.

2) Instruct Internet Explorer to delete all its temporary and offline files.

aslo windows folder, blue files (updates) and maybe in system32?

well u can delete the $ uninstall folders in windows directory too😛 windows update uninstall files
