How do I decline this job offer the right way?

I was recently offered a job (help desk). Although I was happy to receive the offer in this economy, after hearing their salary offer, and then thinking about the offer for a few days, I've decided I don't want the job for a few reasons: The salary they are offering is way too low, I got an odd vibe about the culture at the company, I really don't like the way they have been handling the negotiation process with me, and the location is inconvenient for my commute. How can I decline without looking like a jerk and burning bridges?

Call the contact and tell them you are grateful for the offer but you respectfully decline

You really do not have to give them a reason.

You did not sign anything did ya?

I have a job (part time) right now, so there really isn't a reason for me to do that. I can meet my bills with my current job, and being part time gives me days off to interview for full time positions. This new job offer is a full time position.

Nope, everything has been verbal. I told them I was interested in the position at first, but it's kind of gone sour after that. The whole negotiation process has been odd, and if that is evidence of how things work at the company, I don't think its the place for me.

"I dont feel this employment oppritunity is right for me at this time"

"I'm not sure if this position fufills my personal long time goals"

"I do not believe i will achieve self actualization, according to maslow's hierarchy of needs withinn your organization"

follow up any of the above lines with this:

"i appreciate your time and attentiob in this matter and thank you for considering me for the positon"

I like this one. You should try that, although it would be hard to say it without sounding like a smartass.

tell them to increase the salary that they proposed you by atleast 25% b/c you are developing this pesky coke habit.

ask them if you can watch pron on the job when you aren't busy. if no, then it's not the job for you.

Believe it or not, that is damn near the amount their offer is under the median salary for help desk in this area. I was shocked when I heard their offer.
