How do I deal with this cut on my knee?

Hey, last tuesday I was playing baseball and I slid late into the bag and really banged up my knee. Ever since then I've been trying to cover it up with band aids (I've washed it with iodine about 10 times now) but the cut won't form a scab, I move my knee around too much for one to form. It's now been a week and it's still open. I had a big bandage on it yesterday but I bumped my knee and it broke whatever scab was begining to form and the cut started to bond to the bandage. Sorry if this is graphic but I have no idea how to treat this and make it go away. Any ideas? I might take a pic sometime later if anyone wants to see.

Have you looked into something like New Skin?

Other than that, you might want to invest in a leg brace... something to keep your leg straight, and just stay off of your leg for several days.

Start taking your vitamins now... vitamin C will help fight infection and vitamin E will help the healing process. If you can't get it to heal, get to the doctor. The last thing you need is a staff infection.

Neosporin and get good rest

Good call here... if you could immobilize your knee for one night and bandage it with neosporin, it would really help the healing process.

Go to Wal Mart & get that stretchy gauze with elastic in it, and get some Telfa gauze pads as well as a bottle/tube of trible antibiotic ointment.

Apply the ointment or vasaline to the wound, place the telfa pad over it & use the stretchy gauze to wrap around your leg.

Change it once a day or after it slips off or falls off.

The scab will be difficult to keep because the skin on your knee moves so much & it'll rub on any pants you wear.

BTW, I want pics...

It's ok if you do not form a dry scab, as long as you do not get the wound infected. You can use special bandaids that keep the area sealed off from the elements, or apply a protective ointment and bandage it well.

Who gives a $hit, it's fuckin cherry. That's what you deal w/ when you're playing manly sports. If you don't like it stand the heat stay out of the kitchen. Don't post here about your little "booboo" deal w/ it.
j/k.

I'll put some iodine on it, and you'll be good to go.

Coat it neosporin, cover with bandage and then put on knee bandage to help immobilize knee. Do this about three hours before you go to bed and leave it on during the night. Just make sure the brace isn't to tight. Try to take it easy on it for about a week and repeat every night for about a week and it should heal fast.
