How do I create a VCD on a DVD+R when the Video File is 1.2GB?

I have a 1.2GB MPG file and I want to create a VCD on a DVD+R (4.59GB Disk) rather than create a VCD on 2 x 700MB CDR's! What is the best way of doing this. If I try to use Nero, Nero keeps saying it requires a CDR or CDRW not DVD+R!! Of course the MPG file will not fit on one CDR hence the reason for wanting to use DVD+R media...

Any ideas?

Cheers, ;)

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think VCD goes by file size. It goes by time length. You can get about 70 minutes of video on a VCD, and around 45-60 minutes on SVCD.

Here's a site that has lots of useful info on VCD/SVCD/DVD

I think you will also have to convert the audio from 44KHz to 48KHz.

That would make sense actually. Looks like I'm going to have to learn how to convert a DVD9 to a DVD5 and that is long winded....

I will also have a look at TMPCENG, thanx

I've gotten as much as 90 min. (VCD) on an 700mb cdr. It goes by file size more than length. Wasting a DVD+R blank on a mpeg-1 file is not a good idea. Why nor re-encode the file to dvd specs with DVD2SVCD or TMPGEnc? If the quality's not that great go fo a lower bitrate and do a VCD.
