I just got a 45GB IBM Deskstar 75GXP. I want to create a dual boot Win98/2K setup. Here's how I'm going to partition:

C:\ 2GB Win98 FAT32
D:\ 3GB Win2K FAT32
E:\ 40GB FAT32

I dont' have the Win2K CD yet. I should have it in a few days. So how exactly do I do this? Cause I have no clue.

Thanks. :)

make it easy on yourself and install 98 to c: first. then, when that's set (assuming you've already partitioned as you stated you would) just pop in the win2k cd, boot off the cd-rom, and install win2k to E:. simple as that.

Don't you mean install Win2K to D:\? After I've installed both OS's how do I get it to ask me which one I want to boot into? Or will it do that automatically?

woops. d: it is

as long as you install 98 first, after you install win2k to D: and it reboots the first time it will find 98 there and make a boot loader automatically...so you don't have to do a thing.

Make sure you choose to install a new installtion, not the upgrade, and make sure you check the box where it says, "prompt me for drive partition during installation" or something like that. If you don't, you don't get to choose which drive to install it into...

I think that win2k does it automatically. Just choose the "create a new copy" option and not the upgrade one. that should work.
