How do I copy my retail NT server 4.0 CD to a new CD correctly?

Hey all:

My retail NT Server 4.0 CD is getting old and want to copy to a new CD.

The problem is...even though the retail NT 4.0 CD is only 612MB..when I tried to copy to another CD..it asked for at least 750MB of space. :Q

How do I copy what on the retail CD onto the new CD without any change going on?

Worked for me when I used a 700 MB CD, otherwise you could simply remove the alpha, mips, and ppc directories, but that will make it non bootable.

Mmm... I have no problem copying it. CD to CD using in Adaptec EZ CD Creator 3.5 (or earlier) in January 1999. It turns out same bits. The only thing is I never run that CD, only the workstation CD. I think I should test it, when I get home tonight.

I'm going to check a few places that I know, but why don't you post the question in a warez group? I know that this really is just for backup purposes, but they're bound to know.

(otherwise, why not just buy an 80-min CDR?)

Well, I haven't found anything specific to your situation. And since I don't have an NT4 CD to play with, I can't try out anything I've learned with it.

I have found out a lot about copy protection schemes though. 🙂 There could just be a dummy file somewhere on there, an extra audio track, something to just create space.

I hve had no problem backing up NT server (4.0) to a new cd. I just used Adaptec EZ CD 4.0 Disk copy and away it went

Try any program that lets you copy the CD as an image, such as Nero, and it will work. You can get a Nero full working demo at Nero Website.

With Nero, I've been able to copy Playstation games and just about every computer CD out there, except Diablo 2.

But there are ways around that too.

Oh yeah, I copy for backup purposes 🙂
