T-Bird 900Mhz
128 PC133 Ram
Creative G/F 2 GTS 32mb

Hello Everyone,
What is the best way to cool this ultra fast processsor down? I use FS 2000 and with the case cover on FS2000 will lock up after 2-3 minutes of use. After I press the reset button I go into the BIOS and check the temp....105 Degrees F!!!!

In the meantimne I am just leaving the cover off and a desktop fan is blowing into the system, maintains approx 87-89 Degrees F this way.

The CPU fan and heatsink seems to be okay for the Processor, constantly runs at approx 7000 rpm

Any help would be gratefully appreciated :)

I would check how "flat" your CPU core is attached to the hsf.

As well, are you using quality thermal compound? Arctic silver can be bought reasonably at The Cooling Store http://www.coolingstore.com/ & is highly recommended by many at this forum.

Hi Scott and thanks for the reply. How do you mean by flat?
I had to use a fair bit of force to secure the hsf to the cpu!!!

From your description, it seems to me that more case ventilation is in order. It runs OK with the side panel OFF and a desk fan blowing in, right?

Almost any case has a place to mount an intake fan down low in the front, many have a place for an exhaust in the back, near the cpu. This is generally 80mm in the front, and 60 or 80mm in the back.

If you can describe your case and/or give the make/model, some recommendation would be easier.

How many case fans do you have? Also, have you thought about slot fans for your case? Most cases are designed for air to travel through them....like Jhhnn said... If you go to a couple of computer stores....Staples, Office Depot, etc... They sell some cooling fans there. I would look into slot fans and maybe some bay fans... Also, if you could find some heat-sink gel, that will decrease the processor temp by at least 8 degrees... Good luck.

I would at least put an 80mm fan in the bottom front and another in the back.

I have a:

Thunderbird 800 Mhz O/C to 920 Mhz(8x115)
128 PC150 HSDRAM
Asus V7700 GeForce 2 GTS 32MB

I had the old version of the enlight 3237 case without the back exhaust and it did get really hot when i put back on my case. The best thing is to have a case with back exhaust it cools it a lot. Also have an Alpha PAL6035, those cool it to about 32-33. If you really want it cold like i did you can go to www.3dcool.com and get the Tornado 1000 case. This thing keeps your system SOO COLD. It's soo freaking awesome. But it is kinda loud. I get used to it though.

Thanks for all the replies Guys,

At this monent I have an Exhaust/Cooler Located in an Expansion Bay above The Geoforce Card (The AMR Slot) and I have an 80mm Fan which acts as an Air intake.I now have the cover back on and so far no Lockups :)

I also called AMD toady and their engineer told me that T-Bird processors would work quite "Happy" between 40-60 degrees celcius!!!!
Im not going to bother trying to reach that though ;-)
