How do I control my desktop mp3 player with my iphone?

Control the sound of the desktop, not access content from my desktop and play it on my iphone

I think I can do this with itunes, but can't seem to get it to work.

Nothing short than a remote desktop program, or if you can see the computer then a wireless mouse program like airmouse.
