how do I control my computers fan from windows?

i know there are programs out there that can let you control your comps fans, but in windows, not just the BIOS. any names?

control the fan, as in change the speed? No software that I know of, unless it's for a specific motherboard model. Only way to do it is to use some sort of electrical resistor to change the voltage. A fanbus is probably the easiest for you (device with multiple rheostats for manually adjusting voltage). Or you can run wire it up to run at 5v or 7v from your power supply.

EDIT: if you want to simply see how fast they are running, you can try using MBM5.
