Hi everyone,

My issue is simple to explain but I have been completely unable to find any information on google to determine how to solve it. I've spent hours trying various search terms, etc. but I'm stumped and I hope you can help me.

I have an Airport Express WDS wireless network setup at home. The base station (an Airport Express) is in the living room and the remote (also an Express) is in my room. My MacBook and my iPhone have no issues switching to the stronger signal in my room when I'm there. However, my desktop Windows XP box which is literally 5 feet from the Express, only connects to/sees the base station in the living room, resulting in a very low strength signal.

I tried going into the TCP/IP settings and setting the Gateway to the remote's IP, but that had no effect because it's still connecting to the base station only.

I don't know what to do to force the PC to connect to the remote. I installed Airport Utility on Windows and it can definitely see the Airport Express in my room, it just won't use it for the wireless ethernet.

Thanks in advanced for any advice you can give me.

Cheers!

You don't mention what kind of security you are running on the two routers. It's possible the security setting you are using on the remote router is a type your desktop cannot support. Try turning off all security and seeing if you can get the desktop to connect to the remote router.

Well he's using wds so the security should be the same. The ssid might be different if he used wep which I highly doubt. It might be a windows Xp thing. Try turning off the main router, connect to the node, it should give an error. Assign it an ip manually in your subnet then turn on the main router.
