Hey wasn't this just about rails. Anyway here is the rail answer.
The rails should be put on with the flat side against the drive. They should be aligned so that the metal piece is about even with the faceplate of the drive. Mine go in pretty easy. Take one and slide it in the cage to see if its catching on something..
To hook the usb/firewire up follow the directions in the abit manual. Hook each connector to its respective pin. You will probably have a connector with two grounds. This will hook up and 1 of the grounds will be on a "no pin". The firewire is the same but you will have more pins than connectors. Pay no attention to that. Just hook them up to their respective pins until you run out of connectors.
