Hi, i now have my friend's pc, but i don't know if it is running sp2 yet..

in add/remove menu(control panel), i can see some windows update (sp2), but only a few.

so do i need some kind of a program to check that or just check the directx version...?

thanks

edit: system properties it says Microsoft Windows XP Professional Version 2002 Service Pack 1

Right click My Computer > Properties. Should tell you right on that screen. Another option is to go to Start > Run > Winver.

it says service pack 1(both places)
however, i have 3 Windows XP hotfix (sp2) in "add/remove programs"

i've turned of the automatic updates in windows, can i download the sp2 from windows website instead of automatic updates?

i've set the Background Intelligent Transfer Service to automatic and start
and also automatic on under windows properites/automatic updates

but a page of"Windows Update cannot continue because a required service application is disabled. Windows Update requires the following services:
Automatic Updates enables detection, downloading, and installation of critical updates for your computer.
Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS) enables faster, restartable downloading of updates.
Event Log logs Windows Update events for troubleshooting. To ensure that these services are enabled: ...."
