How do I compress an AVI file?

I've got a 3 min avi file that's over 800MB. :Q How do I compress this?

Wow, the feature list for Auto GK looks impressive. Hopefully it won't dissappoint. Too many free video editing programs I've tried have had horrible programming issues - constant crashes, or terrible memory management problems.

no prob, hope it was what you were looking for. i like it because it is dead simple and conveinant to use. this paired up with dvd decryptor is an excellent way for backing up one's DVD library i have found.
