I recently bought a new 7200RPM 60GB hardrive.
How can i completly transfer the data from my old one to the new, including boot sectors etc?
i am sure you can't just plug it in as the secondary then just copy all the files to it as the boot sector won,t get transeffred.
i don't want to have to reinstall the OS (WinXP) and programs, and since this is a faster hd i want to use this as the boot drive.
Also, what is the best way to partition the 60GB drive?

ko 🙂

i think the best way to do it is to use Norton Ghost. Ghost your current OS, then copy everything to the new HD, then use Ghost to restore everything onto the new HD.

I second this idea. Ghost is pretty good.

Ghost is great - the think which suprised me most when I first used Ghost was how fast it works.
