How do I compare performance of 2 routers

Hello folks,

I have old Asus 520-GU router which works fine but the way apartment is designed and the interference from the other routers, I do not get decent signal in the other corner where I work.

I found Linksys E1000 on freecycle and got it. I updated the firmware from V1.0 to latest v 2.1 and set it up. I am noticing that the page loads are rather slow, video from youtube also loads slow (and I am about 10-12 ft from the router, no wall or anything in between). I am not too sure if anything is wrong with the router. So thought of doing a comparison.

Anybody has an idea how can I do that?

Thanks in advance.

Go to the manufacturers websites and look up the manuals and specs of each model and compare.

As for your E1000, it was probably on freecycle for a reason. It could just be old and on its way out, hence the slow speeds and potential instability. If you're wireless it could have a weaker antenna and you're just getting a worse signal thats more susceptible to interference. I know a lot of those Linksys models after the WRT54G era have cheap internal antennas.

Go to smallnetbuilder. They have a pretty nice database of consumer routers they've reviewed.
