How do I 'close' a CD-R

I use an old copy of Adaptec EZCD Creator at work. It's version 3.x. I create an image of the files to be burnt on the machine doing the burning, then I insert a 650MB disk and let it rip at 2x. About 90% of the time everything's hunky dorey. However, the remaining 10% I go back after 30 mins or so and see that although the software is saying that the disk is done (i.e. 100% of the progress indicator is showing), it doesn't actually allow me click OK yet and the cd still looks busy (flashing green, not flashing red).

I'm not able to click OK and I'm not able to open the CD drawer. I basically have to power off the box and restart in order to get my CD-R out. When I inspect the files on the cd-r later, it's empty!

If I try and burn to this disk again, EZCD won't let me. Therefore I reckon that the data is actually on the cd, but the software didn't close it or write the table of contents completely.

A while back I used a PC with a version of EZCD that had some additional tools. One enabled you to 'close' or 'finish' the cd and got me over hurdles like the above.

Any idea what version of ezcd that was, or if there are any other tools (preferably freeware) out there that will do the trick?

Cheers!

I beleive its ver 4.0 and up. I had a problem on my work pc exactly like yours. I just rebooted, tried to burn the disk again but ezcd told be there was an open session and asked if I would like to close it. I answer yes and all is ok. I traced the prob to my PCI latency. Reset the bios to its defaults and now its MOSTLY ok.
