How do I clone my hdd

Looking to clone my hdd to another hdd. I want to make it so all I have to do is put it in the computer and it will boot up and run. Just like the one I have. What program will let me do this, and are there very many steps to it.
Thanks

Most Hard Drive makers have a utility that will clone the hard drive as long as one (either source or target) is one of theirs.

Check on the makers Web Site for downloads/utilities.

It's real good, easy, fairly fast.

There's a feature that lets you establish an area that Windows can't see, so that any corruption of your operating system won't affect your backup there: Acronis Secure Zone.

Not free.

I have Acronis True Image Workstation 9.1 with Acronis Universal Restore. There are some other Acronis versions & products I'm not experienced with.

You get a stripped down but useful version of Acronis in MaxBlast 5 if any of your hard drives are Maxtor, free at the Seagate web site here.

Acronis may (or not, I don't know) also come free in SEagate DiscWizard at the same site as MAxBlast 5.

So try that if you are able.

western digital or seagate offers utilities from off their website if you want something trustworthy.
