A friend of mine has a cable connection and when the installer hooked it all up he used a usb network adapter. He wants to change it to hook up with a regular network card so that he can put in a router but we can't get the modem to assign the address and such to the nic card. I think that they have tied his connection to the Mac address of the usb adapter because with it he can still connect regardless of what computer name or such that he puts in but it won't work with the network card.
The D-link has the capability of cloning the Mac address but It has to be able to see it first and it can't see the usb adaptor, does anyone know how to do this?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
