I have a hard drive i used for a secondary storage on my old system,
it has 3 partitions

2 d and e drives are storage
c: drive is now blank for win2k to be installed on

how do i clear the Master boot record so i can install an os on it and make it the primary?

format doesn't have and MBR switch.

the command is:

fdisk /mbr

In order for this to work you need to have primary partition on the drive.

To check for a primary partition run fdisk and choise option 4 (display partition info)

**Note When you install Win2k the MBR will be rewritten anyway so this is a waste of time.

it use to.

BTW, I was thinking of fdisk /mbr, dunno why I said format. I just woke up a little while ago 🙂
