I really like Feisty Fawn but my gfx card is incompatible with Compiz/Beryl.

I have two partitions on my HDD. A 28GB one for XP and a 12GB one for Ubuntu.

I would like to clear out EVERYTHING on the second partition and then MERGE the two partitions so I can have my full 40GB back. This is so I can upgrade to Vista.

Please help me oh great IT Gods!!!!

Normally a windows XP or vista CD setup while installing will allow you to delete the partition(s). Then you can merge them as one again....

I'll try it out, I just don't know if the Vista install will let me get to that point because I only have 3GB of free space on my Windows partition. And you know how strict the Vista compatibility test is.

What I would do is dl a livecd like pclinuxos and then use the disk tools in the control center. It will easily delete the extra partitions and resize your windows partition to use the whole drive. You wouldn't have to install pclinuxos to do this, just log into root or guest account.

BTW using the disk tools in the control center is all graphical, no command line stuff. It is pretty neat actually.

I'll pop in my Ubuntu Live CD and see if I can access the disk tools under root.

This'll delete your data on the XP partition, you know? But you can use any number of free tools mentioned above, or PartitonTragic if you want to keep your data on the XP partition.
