How do I clean sticky goo off car paintwork?

I noticed a blob of clear sticky goo on my car paintwork, looked like caulk - no idea where it came from.

I cleaned it off best I could with a tissue, but it kind smeared and now dried.

Is it okay to use alcohol or goof off on the car paint?

It sounds late in the year for this, but it sounds kinda like tree sap.

You can try placing a damn towel that was soaked in hot water. Leave it on the spot for maybe 30 seconds, sometimes that gets rid of stuff on your car, sometimes not - its a great tip for getting the bugs out

I start with a simple cleaner/polish. If that doesn't work, I'd step up to mild solvents. I even noticed peanut butter mentioned a few times!

Use a straight razor blade well lubricated by constant spraying with a bottle of Fantastic.


Practice your technique first on an area that you don't mind scratching.
