I just got a totally new computer, and my monitor is a 21" flat screen with anti reflective and static coating on it.. how do i clean my monitor? So far I have been using dabs of water on a suede cloth to clean it. Is this the right method? Before I had a glass non-flat monitor so I have no idea.
 
using water wont hurt or damage anything, and its the right way i think, but dont use those normal glass cleaners, even tho i've tried it before but there werent anything happened
 
Best method would be to see if the manual mentions a procedure or possibly call tech support.

I use a small pump bottle of filtered water and spray it lightly onto a very soft cotton cloth that HASN'T had any fabric softener added.

Where I live our water quality sucks (extremely high mineral count) so we use filtered.

I have had problems using the wrong solution (i.e. anything alcohol or ammonia based) to clean monitors. It dries up the coating. I tried water and it smeared all over the place. I only use Klear Screen (www.klearscreen.com), which is alcohol and ammonia free. It was specifically designed for these types of monitors. It's the best period. Just make sure to use lint free wipes like Kensington so you don't scratch the surface. Hope this helps.

Do you wear polyester shirts or something? If you own t-shirts, read the neck label to see if it is 100% cotton, then you may use it to wipe your @$$....err screen.

LOL, I just use standard alcohol, but just a tiny bit on some cheap tissue paper, toilet paper works too, but i usually use it to wipe my @$$.
 
I use some generic screen cleaner with the Office Depot name marketed on it with some Kensington lint free wipes. Cost me eight dollars for two bottles and the wipes and the first bottle is still half full after five years, and yes its alcohol and ammonia free.

Merkon, you're correct to apply the liquid to the wiper instead of to the monitor screen because if you do the latter it can drip into the switches or even cause an electrical shock.

I use nothing but distilled water and 100% cotton cloth.

Look in the back of a Car magazine (e.g. Car and Driver) and check out the autoglass cleaners. They work very well on all glass surfaces.
