How do I clean a scanbed?

I noticed that I've got some fingerprint smudges on the scanbed of my Lexmark All-In-One unit. I was just curious as to what kinda product I should use to clean them off. Would any sort of glass cleaner be ok, or is something else reccomended?

I've been using glass cleaner for years on mine with absolutely no problems.

i do suggest spraying the cleaner on the paper towel first, instead of directly on the glass

but other than that, go right ahead and use generic windex or whatever

100% cotton cloth and some warm water will do the trick James2k :)

time for a new scanner corky-g!

I'd use inside/outside degreaser if I had a scanner. or maybe HCl. water and vinegar--10:1 or less vinegar.

Actually those old scanners weren't much slower than today's low cost USB stuff.
After all, if you bought a scanner ten years ago, it cost some serious money, and
you wanted some performance out of it even back then - and you got it.

That's the reason why my ancient UMAX 1200x600 SCSI scanner won't have to
leave anytime soon - it isn't unbearably slow, its scan quality is still the same as
on day one (after I once disassembled it and cleaned the glass inside and outside
w/ glass cleaner and paper towel btw), and it has a transparency adapter too :)
