How do I clean a Ghosted WinXP install?

OK, I have problem related to this thread:

I have set up one computer with a login of, say, "Joe". When installing all the programs, they are "registered" to "Joe". If I Ghost the HD and I want the login to be "Jane", how do I get rid of Joe from Windows entirely, including from the program registrations?

I think you would have to do extensive registry editing - probably more work that it's worth. You could try opening the registry and search for all instances of "Joe"

Yeah, I actually tried that, but it dod not change the "registration" in many applications (Like WordPerfect and Word).

I am so bummed.

When I'm first setting up an image I typically "register" any additional programs to "." or something similar since names of users may change, though I do tend to include the Company or Organization name since that is the entity that purchased or is licensed to use the software, regardless of which machine it is sitting on.

Users get added later.

I setup an image under the Administrator account. I configure that account profile the way I want all users to have theirs when they first log in. I then create a 2nd account with Admin rights, log in with it, and copy the Administrator profile over Default User. Reboot, log back in with the Administrator account, and delete the temporary Admin account.

When I setup the programs I use the name "End User" and the company name. When I actually setup the system for the user I just modify the "User Information" part of Word and that takes care of most of it.
