How do I check what pieces of hardware I have?

Going to be formatting tonight, and wanted to collect all my drivers and all that jazz before hand so that I can easily get my comp going againa fter the format. What program is best to check what hardware I have in my system? One which'll show the model number and all that to make my life a bit easier.

System Information provides, well, system information. You'll find lots of info there like system information and such. 😉

Edit: BTW, go to Start > Programs > System Tools > System Information. You find all your drives, video card, CPU, mobo, etc.

Belarc.com has a free utility that will give you some info you are looking for.

Also, driverguide.com has some sort of "Driver Backup" app. Dunno how well it works, never tried it.

Or start > run and type MSINFO32 on the Open field.

just remember that system info and the like will only give you what the driver tells the os the hardware is, the best way to get all the #'s and such is to open the case and write them down
