I can't recieve mail and was wondering if there was a way to tell if port 25 (or the mail sending port) is blocked by a firewall or something else. I tried pinging the mail server on port 25 but ping won't let me ping on a specified port. (I used: ping mail.service.com:25)

Is there any utility or built in command I can use? (Win XP)

if you are using windows xp sp2, firewall is enabled by default

i dont know if it blocks port 110

i would check that first under the control panel

you can do a port scan at this Site, and it will show which ports are open or closed.

Right Here

But i always have my Routers Firewall up and it never blocks my Email.
and i don't have Port 110 open for any PC on my Network.

Port scan shows it as "Stealth" Mode on Port 110.

Hope that helps.

Somehow, though I don't remember how, you can use the telnet command to see if you can make a connection to a mail server. This would indicate if it was being blocked locally.
