How do I check for all programs that have an open claim to my hard drive?

I am trying to format a slaved drive and i can't because it keeps telling me that something is currently using the drive???? This is a slaved drive, and I am running XP Pro. Is there a way to check and see what program/s might have an open path to the drive?

Thanks for any input!

peace

I don't think you can format a hard drive through WinXP because the system has claim over it. You'll need to boot off a floppy disk or CD to format the drive.

^ What he said. You won't be able to kill off programs in Windows enough to let it format within. Do it in DOS mode.
