Dead pixels/subpixels can have a tendency to eat away at your patience and brain. They are fairly noticeable. Especially if you are looking at something with a predominantly white background (ie word) and a little blue dot just wont go away. I downloaded some LCD test software that i dont remember where i got it from. What it did was show like 3 or 4 different colors on the whole screen so you can take a hard look at each color background to look for dead subpixels.
but regardless, without the software i think youll see if any are there.
Furthermore, if you dont see it, ignorance is bliss because they can be annoying and manufacturers are quite anal when it comes to dead pixel policies. I dont know of any monitor company that would replace your monitor for say 1 dead pixel, much less a subpixel; usually, multiple pixels must be dead for them to replace it.
Samsung makes great monitors and im sure yours will be fine.
Hope I helped,
