How Do I Change The Default Browser In XP

Well, I just got my computer out of hock, and found that the people at the pawn shop must have been screwing with my setup in the three weeks it was there, because IE6 is now the default browser. I cannot seem to get opera to start up instead of IE6. I am using bluelight internet service, and have tried the usual options, such as the "Internet Explorer should check to see whether it is the default browser" checkbox being checked and unchecked, and the same option in Opera to no avail. Does anyone know of any way to get Opera to start up instead of IE? It is really getting on my nerves, and those are the only options that I know of. Thanks

If you've set both options in Opera and IE for the relevant default options, you may need to go to Start-->Set Program Access and Defaults where you can tweak these options

Frankly, under circumstances where you suspect someone else has had access to your computer, I'd recommend a totally clean installation. I hope you didn't leave data on that machine when you left it at the pawn shop.

I'd bet it is something coded into your bluelight dialer rather than a Windows setting.

Yea, you are probably right. 8ballcoupe may also have a point about a doing a clean install, which I may end up having to do. I hope it is not somehow hardcoded into bluelight, but doubt that it is, since I had Opera as the default with bluelight before. The only thing I can think of is that bluelight did an automatic update and now it is hardcoded into it.
