How do I change the default action in windows explorer?

I can't seem to find the answer in google... because I have no idea how to describe this in keywords

When you right click a file or folder in windows explorer, the menu shows up and one of the options is in darkened text right? (means when you double click on it the darkened text will be the action to perform) How am I suppose to change the darkened text to something else?

The reason is one of my external harddrive default action is 'Autoplay' I have no idea why... if I want to see the files inside I have to right click the drive and select 'Open' (Open is not the default darkened text in the right click menu...)

i checked the registry according to the forum, but everything seems ok...

when i right click my external hard drive, Auto is the default action
