having only recently learned how to setup and move my mail etc for outlook express, i decided to switch over to Outlook. could someone please explain how i can change the default location where outlook data is stored [emails, contact details, calender items etc etc] as i could not find any "move" options for any of these such as i found in the OE mail folders options

Thanks

Outlook uses .PST files for storing data (emails, contacts, task, etc.). Go to "File > Data file mangement" (or something like it, I have the spanish version of Office, don't know how the english commands are named). There you have the options for your default PST file.

On a side note, it's a good idea to use separate PST files. In my setup, I have the default PST for storing personal email, and another PST file for storing work related stuff. You can mount the PST fiels whenever you want, compact them to improve performace and a few more things.

You might wanna check out Personal Folders Backup, it's an Outlook plugin that let's you perform automatic backups of your PST fles. Very handy.
