How do I change my desktop icon background font color?

The thing is my background desktop rectangular boxes use to be fine, now they have this weird bluish background on the font of the desktop icons. How do I change it back so there's no rectangular box and the bluish background is gone? So it remains a white font, and clear?

I think it was some sort of spyware that changed it. I remember it was fine, then tons of popups and a slight freeze causing my desktop icon fonts to change a little. The font itself is same (arial), just there's a bluish box now.

Here's what I mean:

Thanks.

Right click on your Desktop, select Properties, Appearance, Advanced
You should be able to fix it in there

Right-click My Computer, Properties, Advanced, click on Settings under Performance. Scroll down and put a check next to "Use drop shadows for icon labels on the desktop".

That doesn't do it. In fact, it totally screwed things up.

Like Bruceb said - right click on the desktop, select Properties, then Appaearance, then Advanced. Then use the popdown menu to find Icons. Set your font and size, atttributes and color as you wish.

That will let you change the color of the box, but not get rid of it. The OP wants to get rid of it. That was why I provided instructions on how to get rid of it.

If that makes it look bad on your system, your wallpaper is probably poorly suited to that use.

It's not the wall paper i it toally changed my desktop - had to rebuild it. :)

Was a good experience - I almost forgot how. I don't use wallpaper - I use a black desktop with a center photo, and lots of hand crafted icons. Text shadows on black? Not a good idea:)

DT

Thanks for the exercise. :)

Nevermind, I figured it out by disabling/renabling Active Desktop. Thanks for the help though.
