How do I change file names displayed on the 360 dashboard?

Here is my scenario:

Let's say I have a video file where the original file name is MyVideo.avi. When I go through my 360 to find and play this file from the dashboard I will see it displayed as MyVideo.avi.

Now, let's say I want to rename that file to YourVideo.avi. Obviously, I can rename the file with no problems through Windows. However, when I go back to the 360 dashboard, I still see that file displayed with the name MyVideo.avi which is my problem. I want it to display the file name that I renamed it to. My question is how do I do that? I assume I need to change some other property which is retaining the original name, but I do not know how.

I had the same problem. To fix it I had to go into the media library in Windows Media Center on the PC that is hosting the files and change the names there (assuming you are using Media Player 11's media sharing options). I have no Idea why it does that but it is super annoying.

What if you delete them from the library and re-add them.

is there a way to force a refresh of the library in windows media center? i think in tversity, you have to update/rescan to rebuild the library.

Linky Linky

Worth a shot....could be quicker than the native search method in WMP.

This is what I do. It's a pretty quick process.

This is basically what I ended up doing and it worked like a champ. In short summary:

1. Opened WMP 11 and loaded my video library.
2. Deleted the library.
3. Clicked on Library -> Clicked Add to Library -> Clicked OK
4. WMP ran both the search and added all of the files from the folders I specified.
5. Profit.
