I have a buggy AT power supply and I would like to replace it, but I need to know if it is within my limited technical skills.

I have a:

AZZA 5IVH 2x mobo, with a P233MMX cpu, 64 meg EDO RAM, 2 Maxtor HD's 4 & 20 gig, 24X liteon CD ROM, Stealth S220 vid card and Monster 3D II 8 Meg Vid accelerator and a lousy sporatic 200W AT power supply.

I saw a used 250W AT power supply from LCT technology being offered and would like to know if this is compatible with my mobo. Also is it very hard to change the power supply?

Appreciate any help you may render.

its very easy to change a powersupply...
first crack your case open, and unplug all the power cables from your drives (they are the ones witht he multiple colored wires comming out. then follow the cables out of the power supply that connect to your motherboard..and unplug them (there are 2 of them, but connect right next to each other so it looks like one.) then unscrew your powers supply and jerk it out.

put your new one in its place, and reconnect all your drives. when placing the power connectors on the motherboard, REMEMBER black ALWAYS goes in the middle.

problem solved.

I don't know too much about power supplys, but I have change mine. If you know how to do anything, I'm sure you can do this. Just dig in. I wouldn't get a used box tho, new ones aren't that expensive these days.

You can do it, sounds like with what you have, 250 should be fine and you should have power to spare.

One gotcha:

The two big connectors that go to the MB are labled (P8, P9, P10)...make sure the connectors on the "new" PS have the same markings.

Thanks for the info. I will check my ps and make sure that I scope out what I am doing before actually trying it.

Appreciate the feedback.

Dex (or anyone):

Where is a good place to get an AT Power Supply that doesn't break my piggy bank? (i.e., under $20 if possible)?

Any suggestions?

With AT power supplies there is usually a case switch that is hardwired to the power supply so you will need to remove that from the case as well and wire it to the new power supply if it doesn't already have one.
