How do I capture a short clip from a DVD?

...to any type of video file that I can edit with normal desktop editing software? I'm not looking to copy or rip the whole DVD, I just want to grab a short (~3 second) clip for the purposes of looping into a YTMND. Utilities anyone?

I just dropped the .VOB file into Studio 9 when I did this a while back.

VirtualDub will do it, but you need the version that's been modified to use MPEG-2 video, IIRC.
