How do i cancel my account at this forum

I am not sure, but I don't think you can delete it. You can just not use it.

Maybe you could PM a Mod and ask them.

Because i need to disconnect from the internet and focus on a personal project ive been working on for a long time. My decision to disconnect from the internet is because it is extremely distracting given the amount of candy that one can eat. I find myself spending hours playing with new software and doing all sorts of stuff that is just completely meaningless. And i have a problem controlling myself.

I also want to start over my internet with a new username for all websites. In a while from now of course. And since i cant change my username, then i thought it would be a good idea to cancel my account and open a new one in the future when i come back online, but with my new username.

As far as starting again... well, when you feel you are ready to come back, just shoot an email or PM to a Mod and they will change the username for you. That way you get to keep your postcount.

Your average posts per day are 1.12, so this place can't be distracting you too much. Why don't you at least blame it on some other "significant" part of the internet?

If you want to make it so that you can never log in change your e-mail to a none routed address such as foobar@greesyspooon.com (pretty sure that domain doesn't exist ) that will change your password and you then won't be able to log in to the forums.

If you want to make it so you can't visit this site, add an entry in to your hosts file to redirect the domain to your local host I forget the hosts files syntax but I think it is something like

forums.anandtech.com 127.0.0.1

if you really want it gone, though, you could get yourself permabanned. How you choose to do that, of course, is up to you.

I don't condone this method, but it would be a way to make sure you can't post here again.

Best thing to do is to never log back into the forums again, there isn't a way for any account to be deleted. Once a forum account is made, it remains in the forum database for life.

I guess there are many ways. I thought of creating some password by just typing anything on the keyboard and then copy it while my eyes are blurred. Then paste it in the change password section of my profile and thats all. Of course i would also have to change my email address.

But i'll just stick with it.

The thing that really ticks me off is that my username is x-Max, which is an OK name, but that in just about every place im registered, it is x-Max, while here i was confined only to xMax.

It just bothers me.

But i guess i'll just have to live with it.

And i think you people have better things to do.

In conclusion, if i could get my username here to x-Max then im good with that. Otherwise, im going to pick a name that will most likely be usable everywhere and not have been used by anyone, since that is simple and neat.

But thats it for now. Perhaps it would be best if this thread ended here since there really are so many more interesting things to be talking about.

There's actually a way. Get yourself banned. Not only that you won't be able to use your account, you won't be ableto make a new one.
