Hi, I've just download 1.58 GB of wave files of music from the internet, I would like to burn them into blank CD in wave format as well, but 1.58 GB is simply too big for one CD, how do I burn it in two CDs? since I have never done this, please give me show me in details please. Thanks

uh, is it a single WAV file that is 1.58 GB in size? if so... um, you'd have to convert it MP3 for it to fit a CD.

if it is a group of WAV files, uh, split them up yourself, you'll need 3 of them.

Yeah... if you just need to burn many files to CDs... split them up into three folders, burn each folder to a different CD with a program like Nero... just make sure you choose DATA CD if you want the WAV files to remain as WAVs, and AUDIO CD if you want to create like actual music CDs from them...

If its all one file which is well... rediculous... use any popular sound recording/editing program (Creative's Wave Studio will do it) to split the wave file into three parts...

thanks for the feedbacks, guys, I appreciated it. It's not a group of WAV files, it's actually a single WAV file that is 1.58GB in sice. I want to record them to CD as it is. How do I split them in three parts? Is it different burning them to data CDs and audio CDs? If it's WAV in either CD, it should be able to play in all CD players, right? thanks

grab a wav editor like cooledit .. open the file up, and split it up.. break it down into about 70 minute chunks (just to be safe) .. then burn each chunk to a cd.. cds hold 74 minutes (more in some cases), but you're going to probably need at least 3 cds anyhow so i wouldnt worry about filling the entire cd up..

oh, and in case you dont know, you should be burning it as an audio cd (not data) .. with nero, just select audio cd from the lefthand side of the new compilation dialog, then drag the chunk you want to burn to that cd into the compilation window.. and burn away

also if you dont know you cant burn audio to cdrws.. most decks cant play cdrws, so you should be using regular cdrs (650mb preferably for the widest compatibility.. you can try 700 but ive had 700mb cdrs crap out on a lot of cheap players)

It's 1.58gb but how long is the actual track?

If it's average waver quality I would guess it's around 120 minutes, which means that it will need to span onto two CD's after being split into 2 files as a couple of others have sugested.

If it's high quality but less than 74 mins then it will fit onto a standard CD-R as an Audio CD burn with will play in most CD Players.

If burnt as a wave file or chunk of the full wave file it will only play in a PC.

yup... what pamp said.

cd does not hold audio files in .wav format.
it needs to be converted.
which programs like nero does in the back ground... so you won't have to fuss with it.

just grab a wave editing software... and chop the file in 3 .
and create 3 different wav files...
with that you can burn onto 3 different cd's.

There's one other solution, but it is expensive. You could plop down $500 and get a DVD+RAM...I think they'll hold something like 4.7 GB.

Then there's the problem of portability. DVD Players are either standalone units playing through a computer, a set-top player without computer run through a Hi-Fi reciever (Line input, these are usually hooked up in a 'home entertainment system w/TV); the only 'portable' DVD players I know of are in Automobiles.

DVD is the wave of the future, but it ain't sorted out just yet.

It will be nice to pop a DVD disk into anything that plays back audio,or video; 4.7 GB. should be a hell of a lot of music.

***I mean, to 'amplify' the above statement, It will be nice to use DVD Disks everywhere we now use CD's. This will include Portable Stereo's (Ghetto Blasters), Car Stereo's,Home stereo's,computers, etc.....this may take awhile to become universal. Like the switch from Cassette audio to CD audio....a few years.***

I can envision this happening soon.
